Welcome back to another of these Top 100 Weight Loss Tips. This post is article number 29 in the series and provides another great tips to help you lose weight. This is an original article written for weightlossgo.com and is copyright protected. This post looks at a pretty simple thing you can do to help shift the excess pounds while you’re engaged in what is often the drudgery of an exercise machine.
Play Video Games Whilst Exercising to Lose Weight
Video games can actually help you lose weight, if you use them right. But I’m not talking about all that nervous energy you’re using when you’re actually enthralled by the game while stretched out on the sofa. I’m talking about using today’s gaming technology to improve the time you spend on exercise machines.
So if you can keep your balance on a stepper, or treadmill or elliptical exercise machine, and you can operate the controls of a popular games machine while pumping your stuff, then its a great way to take your mind off the repetitiveness of the exercise and make the time go fast.
By doing this, you can get so engrossed in the game that you don’t realize you probably exercised an extra ten or fifteen minutes more than usual and burned off a whole load more calories while trying to kill that bad guy, or race that car round the latest set of hairpins!
The reason this works so well is all about a single little chemical that your body produces when you’re in a heightened state of alertness: adrenalin!
Not only are you able to work up a big sweat on the exercise machine, but when you play a really fast-paced action game on a game console, you will make even more adrenalin to help your body burn those calories! So believe it or not, those time sapping computer games have a real application when used smart. They help you concentrate on one thing and avoid distractions that can require long pauses between your exercises. So try racing games or fast action shoot ‘em out games that would otherwise keep you on the edge of your chair. The more mindless and thrilling the game, the better you will burn those calories and the faster your exercise session will seem go by.
So you see not all weight loss exercise need be boring or a long drawn out drudgery. It can be exciting and fun if you have the hardware to do it, and let’s face it, most homes nowadays have a video games console in them, so use it to your advantage!
