We’re going along swimmingly with our Top 100 Weight Loss Tips and here we are at article number 88 in the backwards counting series already. Each new article is another great top tip on how to lose weight the easy way! So this time out we’re going to take a look at why fast food is bad for you.
You’re kidding, right? You’re going to tell me that Ronald McDonald doesn’t have my best interests at heart when he’s playing the Pied Piper on TV commercials and luring my kids into his fast food emporiums? You mean hamburgers and fries and milk shakes and all those other great things are not as good as they make out?
Why is Fast Food Bad For You?
Closely following on the heels of chocolate cakes, biscuits and pastries, fast food, in the form of those appealing looking burger and fries meals topped off with a cooling milkshake and a fizzy soda drink, is not just bad for your health. It is positively a disaster for your waistline!
The calorie count of one of those so-called “happy” meals is off the scale. And the levels of saturated fats, sugar, salt and artificial additives is pure poison to the system! Yet the makers advertise their stuff like its the next best thing to paradise. With what can only be described as sinister intent, they aim their commercials at kids. That’s because they know that kids will pester the hell out of their parents to take them to the nearest fast food outlet so they can inch their way a few pounds closer to clinical obesity like all their hamburger munching friends.
Ok, enough of the bad press for the burger makers. I’m not aiming my shaking fist just at them. Pizza sellers are almost as bad, along with ads that promote any unhealthy food that is full of trans fats and additives as being anything other than what they really are. Which is an easy way to gain weight and become extremely unhealthy, especially if you lead a sedentary lifestyle. These foods, and I use the term loosely, are packed full of badness.
I remember watching an episode of The Simpsons, where the grossly obese comic book store guy once said that “loneliness and cheeseburgers are a dangerous mix.” He portrays everything that eating a diet of fast food and getting no exercise will bring you. Obesity and loneliness as he is typecast by the rest of Springfield as the “fat geek.” No apologies for the very un-PC turn of phrase there. The Simpsons do it all by themselves.
Anyway, back to the plot. If you want to know how to lose weight fast but naturally, you are going to have to see through all the hype and clever marketing and see all fast food for what it really is. Then you’re going to have to make the decision that you are not going to eat any of it. Maybe you don’t have to swear an oath never to touch it again, as that would be too harsh. You’re allowed to slip every now and then because occasional lapses of concentration are what makes us all human!
But for the most part, you should avoid the wickedly grinning clown and all his fast food chains’ mascots and gimmicks as well as those of all the rest of the junk food outlets and avoid eating that stuff like your life depended upon it.
Just remember, Elvis Presley chomped his way though a mountain of cheeseburgers until they killed him while he was still a relatively young man. His life depended upon it but he kept eating until the decision was out of his hands.
So if you want to argue that fast food is convenience, then re-think your arguments. Find something convenient to eat that won’t send you to the obesity clinic or have the men in dark suits come and measure you up for a Super-XXXL box to bury you in.
Now that I have probably just written the most direct and to the point hard hitting post on not how to lose weight fast, you are probably wondering what else I’m going to attack with such voracity! Don’t worry, its not all as bad as this, but it gets me so mad when I see commercials advertising this stuff and aiming it at kids who are our future. What future are we going to have if our kids are dying before we do because they had such a terrible diet and took so little exercise?
Say it to yourself over and over: “Going to a fast food restaurant is NOT a treat!”
Be responsible and feed yourselves and your kids with good, wholesome home cooked food made from fresh ingredients. If you can’t cook, then get off your backside and learn. Fast! Don’t you think your kids are worth the extra effort?
